Madina Hostel opened in June 2020 with the mission to provide affordable high quality accommodation and a social space that fosters a community of enthusiastic travelers and locals who value the diversity of Cairo, the arts and traveling. As a receptionist at Madina Hostel you are our guests’ superheroes by making their stay in Cairo as exciting, smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Reporting to the Hostel Management some of your RESPONSIBILITIES will be:
- Create a great guest experience: friendly and caring check-ins; continuous, informative and cheerful interaction with the guest during their stay; smooth check-out and payment procedure
- Act as information point: use your knowledge to make appropriate suggestions, arrange tours and travel itineraries
- Be a problem solver: Listen to the guests’ issues and find a solution that makes the guest happy
- Champion our values, the hostel and its activities
- Handle online and offline guest communication via email, phone, and apps
- Manage administrative processes: coordinate repairs, assist in inventory management, produce reports
- Ensure cleanliness: Develop cleaning checklist and track housekeeping work
- Handle bookings through our reservations management system

As our creative, digital ambassador you are representing Madina Hostel to the (online) world and share exciting stuff from Cairo and our offline community.
Reporting to the Hostel Management some of your RESPONSIBILITIES will be:
- Propose new and innovative ideas and concepts for social media content creation by keeping track of trends
- Manage and further develop our social media presence
- Build and execute social media strategies through competitive and audience research on our social media channels
- Plan and manage editorial content calendars
- Create and post dynamic and compelling written and visual (photo and video) content on a regular basis
- Drive community building and engage existing and new target audiences, community management
- Develop and drive campaigns and ads on social media
- Track performance, analyze, draw insights from and report on social media metrics
- Continually test and evaluate new social and content strategies, tactics, and partnerships
- Engage with and portray guests, as well as Cairo (especially Downtown) and its people
- Document the property and social activities happening in the hostel and Cairo
- Support in blogging and email marketing
WHO YOU ARE
You are passionate about Cairo, people and technology. You love exploring new waters while keeping a strategic anchor.
- Proven track record in strategy building on social media, content management
- Experienced in photo- and videography, photo- and video-editing
- Not shy to represent Madina Hostel in front of the camera, outgoing
- Talented to engage people online and offline
- Have proven compelling copywriting skills
- Very good spoken and written English and Arabic
- Data driven, experienced in running A-B tests
- Knowledge in graphic design is a plus
- Strategic thinker, team player, able to work proactively and independently, thorough interpersonal skills
- Curious, creative, innovative, resourceful, outspoken and brave
A successful hostel lives from its social interactions and cleanliness. Making it our priority to provide sparkling clean accommodation to our guests, we are looking for enthusiastic housekeepers.
Reporting to the front desk and hostel management your RESPONSIBILITIES are:
- Clean and freshen up rooms between guests’ check-out and check-in and upon request
- Maintain and clean common areas on a daily basis
- Manage bottleneck free washing of hostel laundry, wash guests’ laundry upon request
- Prepare breakfast
- Report on broken and / or missing amenities
- Support guests in special requests related to cleanliness and amenities
- Support in hostel dinner evenings
WHO YOU ARE
- Experience in cleaning, preferably professional cleaning
- Eye for detail
- Customer service oriented
- Organized and strategic thinker
- Be able to work independently and proactively
